Characteristics and criteria

Vested for Growth invests in established New Hampshire-based companies with solid growth plans, strong management teams, and superior products and markets. Typical prospects have $2 million to $20 million in annual sales, 10 to 200 employees, and gross profit margins of 25% or higher.

VFG also requires that a business have a range of employment opportunities from entry-level, perhaps for those without a four-year degree, to advanced positions.

VFG offers royalty, or "mezzanine," financing to companies that have been turned down by the banks for reasons such as:

  • Hiccup in sales/profitability in the past three years
  • Insufficient/intangible/specialized collateral
  • Concentration of sales
  • Succession
  • Bankruptcy

VFG provides financing to companies that can't get or don't want additional equity for reasons such as:

  • No clear exit plan
  • Avoid dilution
  • Market/growth projections not large enough
  • Preserve freedom/control
  • Existing capital structure

VFG typically invests between $100,000 to $500,000 per portfolio company. As VFG is often only part of the overall financial package, the total capitalization package including senior debt, VFG, and equity can be much higher. Also, when larger amounts of capital are needed from VFG, we are able to acquire co-investors to syndicate deals beyond our  threshold.
